Blind Spot Mirror

The blind spot mirror is a convex traffic mirror that provides a complete, uninterrupted view of the area next to and in front of the vehicle.

Advantages of blind spot mirrors:

  • Complete coherent picture
  • Better visibility for the driver
  • Low installation costs
  • Adjustable independently of traffic
  • Promotion of road safety

Description

The blind spot mirror is a convex traffic mirror that provides a complete, continuous view of the area next to and in front of the vehicle. Its purpose is to improve motorists' visibility of cyclists who are at the traffic light (signal head) next to or in front of the vehicle. Better visibility should lead to a reduction in accidents.

Particularly dangerous for trucks: a blind spot
A blind spot on a truck can pose a major risk to other drivers. In road traffic, a blind spot is the area that
cannot be seen from the vehicle, even with rear-view and side mirrors.

The blind spot is particularly problematic when overtaking on multi-lane roads, as the overtaking vehicle is often not noticed by the driver of the overtaken car by a quick glance in the side mirror when it is in the blind spot.

A blind spot is a particular problem for trucks, as the driver has no rear window to help and the blind spot can be larger and more dangerous than in a car.

Difference to other mirrors

Unlike the previous use of traffic mirrors, the blind spot mirror with its convex shape is integrated into the signal heads as a kind of fourth chamber under the green light. When a truck driver approaches the traffic light and observes the green light, the stationary mirror mounted underneath automatically keeps an eye on the parallel cyclist.

And this without the obstructed view caused by a truck body when looking over the shoulder or without the familiar "blind spot" of truck mirrors. The "traffic light mirror" is therefore intended to supplement the truck mirrors and additional camera and warning systems in order to avoid "conflicts" and accidents with cyclists in the blind spot.
