Description
The blind spot mirror is a convex traffic mirror that provides a complete, continuous view of the area next to and in front of the vehicle. Its purpose is to improve motorists' visibility of cyclists who are at the traffic light (signal head) next to or in front of the vehicle. Better visibility should lead to a reduction in accidents.
Particularly dangerous for trucks: a blind spot
A blind spot on a truck can pose a major risk to other drivers. In road traffic, a blind spot is the area that cannot be seen from the vehicle, even with rear-view and side mirrors.
The blind spot is particularly problematic when overtaking on multi-lane roads, as the overtaking vehicle is often not noticed by the driver of the overtaken car by a quick glance in the side mirror when it is in the blind spot.
A blind spot is a particular problem for trucks, as the driver has no rear window to help and the blind spot can be larger and more dangerous than in a car.
